I am in Maryland right now. I never spend enough time here to see all the people I should. Right now my dilemma is trying to get in touch with my Dad so we can have lunch soon. He’s away from his phone! Now I know what it’s like to try to call me!
If you know me, you know how I grew up: in a Maryland household with 2 parents that voted Democrat because everyone in Maryland except the total jerks voted Democrat. Born and raised on political correctness!
OK. I wasn’t really raised on political correctness. It was something called “Sensitivity Awareness.” After googling it, I’m learning that the term existed only in Montgomery County Public Schools. Apparently their first “Sensitivity Awareness Symposium” day was Nov. 3, 1983 (more…)
In 2003, I saw Gods and Generals at a cinema in Rockville. I was 10 minutes late for the show, but that was OK because I was the first one to buy a ticket. In fact, the projectionist never started the film because he thought there was no audience. I actually had to summon a theater employee to start the film. It was a good three and a half hours long, with an intermission.
When it came out on DVD, I bought a used copy, and watched it a few times. I even posted a lot of nitpicks about it on the nitpickers site. (more…)
Most people say “I did what?!?!” usually after an evening of debauchery, frequently upon waking up next to people they don’t know. I’m saying it because my name is engraved on a microchip somewhere in space.
Apparently, I asked for my name to be engraved on this microchip sometime before August 15, 1998. The microchip will return to earth sometime in 2006. And I’m sure I’ll be contacted by someone who wants to sell me a printout of my name generated from that very microchip!
When did I do this? I honestly have no recollection of it.
