No blog is complete without embarrassing tales. Though I can’t trump my brother, Chris, for all of his great Iraq photos, I can talk about what dumb thing I did the other day, so you all can laugh.
My neighbor (the yuppie with 4 kids) has a trampoline in his back yard. (more…)
If you’ve been curious what I look like in a red, white, and blue NASCAR racing suit with a crash helmet, here is a photo, courtesy of my colleague Eric Banks:

Sorry, ladies. I am still taken!
In other news, if you want to see the videos I shot and edited (very boring if you don’t like auto racing):
WGI action - Action from the race, including the dramatic finish.
Richard Petty Driving Experience - Lots more people in red, white, and blue suits.
I seem to have picked up a bunch of new readers. Only, right now I am not writing about anything really interesting, and don’t plan to for the next few days, because I don’t blog about work, and I will be working until 2 Fridays from now.
So if you prefer to read something unique and timely, go read my brother Chris’s blog. He’s making lots of interesting posts, with photos, from Kuwait.
Today I got in my car and drove 300+ miles back to my childhood home to be with my brother, Eugene, on his 27th birthday. Cousin Shelly also came over, because her birthday is August 9. We all ate crabs.
And Pho. And ice cream cake. But not in that order.
I think the last time Eugene and Shelly celebrated a birthday together was sometime in the early 1980s. My, how time flies.
Much of the day was spent driving, so there is not much else to report. I have to be at work Wednesday, so much of Tuesday will be spent driving. But if circumstances allow, I will visit a friend who is recuperating from a recent illness before I depart.
Hello, everyone who is looking at the blog after learning about it at the youth conference. I have many messages for each of you.
To all the attendees: (Yes, attendees is a word. I think conferees is also a word, but I don’t want to look it up to see if it means someone who attends a conference.) Please take what you learned this weekend, and shine for Christ.
If you were in my small group, here’s a big word to look up: contrarian. That’s me. Sometimes, I argue just because it is fun on a philosophical level. This is not what a small group leader should do. If I scared you, I owe you an apology. Luckily, I kept it mostly in check. But I should have buried it away, like I do at other conferences.
Annie: YOU ROCK. thanks for keeping us on track.
Everyone else: I should have said more to each of you. But the event is too short.
Anyway, Erin wanted to write the captions for the photos, so I am going to let her post them on her blog. You can see the link at the left.
If your kid is attending the White Eagle 7-12 conference, and you are worried that they will be scarred for life, fear not: your children are in the hands of this dynamic woman each day:

Yes. Your kids are in good hands. Be not afraid. She goes before them always.
(If you have no kids there, ignore this post. And try to get it out of your memory before it scars you for life.)
I’ve alluded to flagpoles and military service banners in previous posts. In case I kept you in suspense, here they are:

I didn’t mount the pole on the second floor because electrical lines would have prevented the flag from flying freely. Plus, the first floor is closer to the sidewalk, and visible from more angles. The service banner is a bit hard to see in this picture, due to glare, but it’s visible enough that it starts conversations.
OK, not entirely useless. But I wanted to see if it could be done. Regardless of whether anyone gets upset about this, I am sure there are ethical concerns about using subdomain redirects as a personal bookmarking schema.
So check these places out:

http://mom.whong.org/
Why? I don’t know that whong is easier to spell than blogspot. But it can be done, and that’s as good a reason as any, I suppose.
Now that I think about it, I can take requests. Mom, do you want jesusfreak.whong.org?
