The state basketball tournament post
Yes, I am that tired that I can’t think of a better title for this post other than “the state basketball tournament post.” See, I am at the New York State Public High School Athletics Association tournaments in Albany and Glens Falls, New York. I’m not here because I play basketball, or even because I am a basketball fan (though, I am learning to enjoy it). I’m here because I shoot photos for the newspaper where I work, and we had three teams scheduled to play here.
If you know much about New York geography, you know that Albany and Elmira are not exactly closeby. They are about 190 miles apart. For folks who need Baltimore/Washington reference points, consider that this is about the distance by road between Baltimore and Williamsburg, Virginia. Or from Silver Spring to the North Carolina state line. (Though, conditions are different for you because you have to deal with DC and Richmond traffic.)
Anyway, about 45 miles north of my hotel is the location of the boys’ state championships. And about 7 miles east from my hotel is the site of the girls’ state championships.
I am glad I picked a hotel near the girls’ championships. (click “Read More…” for the rest of this entry; it’ll be a long one.)
