If your car feels like it needs replacement, maybe it just needs service. I haven’t been happy with my care for a while; it was noisy and had lousy traction. I knew its front tires were nearly bald and I knew there was something wrong with the catalytic converter. It was also very loud.
I think the reason it was so loud was because there was a hole in the exhaust system. The reason I think this is because on Saturday, the entire exhaust pipe broke off, making it sound like an airplane. Prior to that, I just thought that old cars were supposed to get louder.
So, after sinking about $400 into new tires, alignment, a new catalytic converter and oxygen sensor (which was broken), I now have a cart that is quieter than it’s been in years. I have no doubts that it will pass the state inspection in May.

If you want to make your truck impressive, why not look into some chrome accessories. How about adding some nerf bars to your truck to get that perfect style. There are many other truck accessories you can use to spruce up the look of your truck today.
Yes, it’s amazing what a little maintenance will do for a car. Sadly, it is also amazing what a little car maintenance will do to your wallet. (I just had to spend $1000 more than you did to fix up my car.) *sigh*

If you really want to make your car feel like new, spend an hour or two with it one sunny Saturday morning. Break out some Armor All, some glass cleaner, and plenty of clean rags. Get some popsicle sticks. Winkle corners of the rag into every tiny crevice you can find, with a little bit of Armor All on the rag as you go. Clean everything. Vacuum the bejeebers out of it. Slide the seat as far forward and as far backward as it’ll go, pick up all the trash and vacuum some more. Vacuum the seats.
Purchase and install aftermarket seat covers. They’ll protect the seats you have, esp. if the originals are still in good shape, and will make old, tired seats feel better. Remove the entire seat (it’s easy!) to put the seat cover on; the difference between a seat-in and seat-out installation is amazing in both appearance and comfort.
Clean the glass. Clean it again. Clean it one more time. Yes, there will be a noticeable improvement each time. Do the outside, too.
Add a bottle of fuel injector cleaner to your tank. Change the oil and add a bottle of stop leak if you need it. Empty, backflush, and refill your cooling system. Turn the engine and the heater on to get every last bubble out. Replace belts. Replace bulbs. Take the car to the car wash and give it a gentle scrubbing. Keep the engine on and blast all that crud out of the engine compartment.
Enjoy. It’ll feel pretty good for at least another six thousand miles after such a thorough treatment.
